Fountain Heights Farms Cooperative
Liberation from the ground up.
We grow food because our people need to eat. We create opportunities for connection and growth. We hold onto land to preserve our history. And it’s all community-led because we know what we need, and we build solutions that work for us.
Who we are
Fountain Heights Farms Cooperative (FHFC) is more than just a Birmingham urban farm—it’s a movement. In a city shaped by resilience and transformation, we are reclaiming land, growing food, and building a future where our community thrives.

What we do
We Grow
Everyone deserves access to fresh, local food. Our We All Eat CSA ensures that food isn’t just for those who can afford it—it’s for everybody. As the first CSA in Alabama to accept EBT and participate in the Double Bucks program, we stretch every dollar so families can eat well.
And for those who need extra support? Our farm stand is always stocked. No applications. No questions. No proof of need. Just community care in action.
We Build
We’re not just growing food; we’re building opportunity. The Heart of the Farm (Coming Soon!) will be a neighborhood hub, complete with:
A community kitchen for local food entrepreneurs
A neighborhood market with fresh, affordable produce
Shared space for small businesses to grow
This isn’t just a farm—it’s an ecosystem.
We Teach
Food is sovereignty. Farming is a skill. Whether you have a backyard, a balcony, or a windowsill, we help you grow.
Through hands-on workshops, we teach people how to plant, harvest, and preserve food, turning small gardens into big opportunities. We also provide resources for new and small farmers, ensuring that knowledge stays in the community and strengthens our local food system.
Because self-sufficiency isn’t just about food—it’s about power.
Growing More Than Food
What started as one small garden in Fountain Heights has grown into 11 thriving farm plots—and we’re not stopping.
To truly feed our neighborhood, create jobs, and build a lasting food system, we need 119 farm plots. Every new space we reclaim brings us closer to a future where fresh, local food is accessible to all.
From abandoned lots to abundant harvests, we are transforming our community—one plot at a time.

Community Care Means Everybody Eats.
Thanks to the support of District 9 Councilor LaTonya Tate, 50 families in District 9 now have free access to fresh, local food through our We All Eat CSA. This partnership strengthens our mission to ensure that healthy food isn’t a privilege—it’s a right.
